Un vigilante davvero speciale

all'interno della Stazione Termini. Spesso si collabora con le forze di Polizia e con i Carabinieri per la tutela della stazione. In questo caso si prendono disposizioni dalla Polizia Ferroviaria in tenuta antisommossa per l'arrivo di un treno di tifosi facinorosi.
Fenix abituato a riconoscere le divise rimane perfettamente tranquillo. Nelle sequenze successive li osserviamo compiere il servizio di vigilanza presso i binari.
Francesco lacobelli mette in evidenza la grande opera di deterrenza offerta dal suo compagno di lavoro. Ci auguriamo vivamente che le grandi qualità del cane corso nei servizi di vigilanza e di ordine pubblico vengano presto utilizzate dalle nostre forze dell'ordine. In alcuni settori il cane corso è più specializzato rispetto ad altre razze. Provate ad immaginare il suo utilizzo come cane antisommossa negli stadi di calcio.

L’istituto di Vigilanza Riuniti D’Italia utilizza il Cane Corso nel servizio di pattugliamento notturno alla stazione centrale di Roma, la stazione Termini.
Leggiamo quali sono le impressioni del sig. Francesco Iacobelli conduttore e addestratore del Cane Corso Fenix.
D. - Sig Iacobelli qual è stato il suo primo approccio con il Cane Corso?
R. - Sono stato guidato nel mondo del Cane Corso da un carissimo amico, Paolo Cuius appassionato della razza e allevatore.
Grazie a lui ho conosciuto la storia e caratteristiche morfologiche di questo cane.
Insieme abbiamo frequentato allevamenti ed esposizioni alla ricerca di soggetti interessanti.
I primi soggetti che ho addestrato provengono dal suo allevamento; sono trascorsi 10 anni e la nostra collaborazione è sempre più profonda e costruttiva.
D. - Lei ha utilizzato prima del Cane Corso altre razze;
che differenze ha riscontrato, e per quale motivo è stato scelto il Cane Corso?
R. - Il Cane Corso rientra in un piano di specializzazione e miglioramento della sezione cinofila dell’ I.V.R.I. di Roma.
Questo tentativo di innovazione non è nato casualmente ma dal confronto tecnico che ci fu quando l’amministratore e il Direttore Tecnico della Società mi convocarono per organizzare il gruppo cinofilo della Società.
Devo ammettere che l’esperienza maturata dai due dirigenti presso altre sedi dell’ I.V.R.I. mi ha permesso di essere capito e assecondato lasciandomi la possibilità di fare scelte tecniche diverse dagli standard normali.
E’ importante ricordare che in Italia tutti i reparti cinofili hanno sempre mirato all’ uniformità e non alla specializzazione dei soggetti che dovranno operare sul campo.
Come I.V.R.I. utilizziamo tre razze di cani; ognuna di queste ha un impiego specifico e una preparazione consona al tipo di servizio che dovrà svolgere.
Nei servizi antirapina utilizziamo indifferentemente Rottweiler ed il Cane Corso.
Nella vigilanza industriale o civile preferisco il Corso, in quanto mostra un senso territoriale molto spiccato. Per obbiettivi diversi, meno impegnativi, utilizziamo Pastori Tedeschi.
Il Corso ha un senso territoriale molto forte, al quale si aggiunge una notevole attitudine alla difesa; fisicamente potente, ha un notevole potere d’impatto, un’ elevata resistenza al dolore, un’ ottima combattività; l’aspetto è fiero e come altri molossoidi non lascia trasparire emozioni.
L’occhio freddo e impenetrabile di alcuni soggetti spaventa diverse persone.
Tutti elementi importanti per un'ottima deterrenza.
Nel nostro lavoro sono importantissimi la prontezza e l'efficacia della repressione, ma è la deterrenza che ci permette di correre meno rischi possibili.
D. - Che tipo di addestramento ha utilizzato con Fenix e come giudica le capacità di apprendimento del cane?
R. - Nella preparazione di un cane vanno tenuti in considerazione alcuni fattori:
in primo luogo il tipo di servizio che l'unità cinofila dovrà svolgere, poi le capacità caratteriali del carie e le capacità del conduttore.
L'addestramento base delle unità cinofile è standard.
Comprende una prima fase concentrata sul controllo del cane, che si ottiene lavorando sull’ ubbidienza; in una seconda fase viene stimolato il cane per metterlo in condizione di difendere il conduttore.
Nel momento in cui i due componenti dell'unità cinofila sono affiatati e allo stesso livello di preparazione, si passa all'ultima fase del lavoro e cioè la specializzazione in antirapina o Vigilanza industriale o civile.
A monte di questo lavoro c'è una selezione caratteriale particolarmente accurata del cane e del conduttore.
Le unità cinofile, finito l'addestramento base e la specializzazione, vengono allenate e tenute sotto controllo costantemente. Per le unità che lavorano di notte in magazzini, fabbriche e depositi vengono spesso effettuate delle lezioni e prove sul posto e in notturna avendo cura di cambiare i figuranti (ipotetici aggressori).
Nel caso di Fenix l'addestramento è stato inizialmente quello di base, ed il cane ha dimostrato immediatamente una propensione alla difesa ottima, forse superiore ad altri soggetti in preparazione. Nell'ubbidienza e nel controllo si impegna volentieri e finora non mi ha dato problemi; per ciò che è invece la specializzazione dobbiamo aprire un vero e proprio capitolo a parte.





Dobbiamo tener presente che Fenix opera in orari notturni presso la stazione Termini in Roma.
Lo stesso come addestratore non sapevo esattamente quali fossero i pericoli che avremmo dovuto affrontare e quali fossero le modalità d'intervento, in quanto normalmente si opera da soli o in qualche caso vi è la presenza di una guardia di supporto. Una stazione ferroviaria implica collaborazioni, coordinamenti e modalità d'intervento diverse da qualunque altra postazione. Presso la stazione collaboriamo spesso con agenti della Polizia e Carabinieri. Il luogo è -frequentato da diversi senzatetto, tossicodipendenti e scippatori. Furti, rapine, risse, sono piuttosto frequenti; spesso la partenza e l'arrivo di tifosi agitati crea scompiglio. Preso vitto del tipo di servizio, abbiamo iniziato a lavorare perseguendo una specializzazione diversa.
Fenix è stato abituato a riconoscere le divise di Carabinieri e Poliziotti come familiari perché in caso di intervento congiunto sarebbe spiacevole che il cane mordesse chi si avvicina per aiutarmi. L'addestramento antirapina comporta una stimolazione sul senso territoriale del cane, in quanto il cane mi deve segnalare la presenza di estranei o intrusi in zone buie o tra i vagoni ferroviari. Credo che Fenix abbia risposto in modo eccellente, tanto che dopo otto mesi di lavoro presso la stazione Termini, la maggior parte dei miei colleghi sprovvisti di cane sono finiti al pronto soccorso. Io non ho ancora avuto bisogno di cure, ma soprattutto i nostri cani non hanno ancora morso nessuno.
D. - Qual' è il comportamento del cane durante il servizio di vigilanza?
R. - Generalmente chiedo e consiglio ai nostri conduttori di non far toccare i nostri cani dai passanti o estranei.
Spesso faccio presente che non va incitato il cane senza motivo nei confronti di persone inermi. Ricordo sempre ai conduttori di tenere il cane al guinzaglio il più vicino possibile. Personalmente durante il servizio cerco di seguire queste regole; Fenix da parte sua esegue perfettamente il suo lavoro e come cane antirapina mostra un'ottima attenzione a coloro che si avvicinano a noi. Per quanto riguarda la vigilanza, se nota la presenza di intrusi mi avverte immediatamente, e cosa importante che molti Corsi hanno innata, abbaiano soltanto quando vi è realmente la necessità di segnalare un pericolo dando pochissimi falsi allarmi.
Spesso interveniamo su chiamate di altri colleghi in difficoltà a causa di facinorosi che spesso, vedendo l'arrivo del cane, si allontanano. Complessivamente credo che il Cane Corso abbia ottime potenzialità nel nostro campo ma il problema è nella chiusura
mentale di alcuni operatori, la mancanza di volontà nel voler migliorare il servizio, il non apprezzare tutto ciò che è Italiano e anche la paura di cambiare. Basti pensare che in Olanda, Russia e Germania si utilizza con ottimi risultati il Rottweiler per `sevizi specifici tipo ordine pubblico; in Francia ed in America si utilizzano i Malinois. Perla ricerca in genere la Polizia di tutto il mondo usa da diversi anni Labrador, Malinois e Pastori Tedeschi. Ciò è indice che la ricerca di specalizzazioni nei cani è sempre più richiesta.
In Italia siamo arretrati come mentalità. Credo che tra qualche anno, in altri Paesi, sarà usato il Corso per servizi di ordine pubblico e vigilanza; è soltanto questione di tempo in quanto questa razza non è ancora ben nota oltre i confini italiani. Nel frattempo sono felicissimo delle performance ottenute e spero ci sia un'apertura anche nei confronti di razze meno note.
D. - Tra cane da guardia e cane da difesa c'è sempre stata una netta dicotomia.
Il Cane Corso ha le potenzialità per eccellere in entrambe. Cosa ne pensa in merito?
R. - Sono pienamente convinto che il Cane Corso possa competere alla pari con qualunque altra razza per quanto riguarda la difesa. Sicuramente è eccellente per i servizi di vigilanza e denota attitudini spiccate alla guardia. Va tenuto tuttavia presente, per ciò che riguarda il lavoro del cane da guardia, che la socializzazione è fondamentale. Pertanto alcuni soggetti ben predisposti alla guardia lavorano a livelli più bassi delle loro possibilità a causa di una socializzazione errata. Comunque è mia personale opinione che soltanto altre tre razze sono superiori al Corso nella guardia. Vi sono fattori importanti nell'acquisto e nella valutazione di un cane. Spessissimo soggetti da difesa e da guardia vengono acquistati da neofiti e a causa dell'aggressività che manifestano hanno poi difficoltà nel gestirli. La maggiore qualità del Corso è proprio la facilità di gestione. Tutti i soggetti preparati o semplicemente provati, mostrano una sottomissione totale e un affetto morboso nei confronti del proprietario e un assoluta determinazione nel difenderlo e proteggere le sue proprietà.

inside the Termini Station. They often collaborate with the Police and the Carabinieri for the Protection of the station. In this case, we take the provisions of the Railway Police in riot gear for the arrival of a train of fans mob.
Fenix used to recognize the uniforms remain perfectly quiet. In subsequent sequences we observe them fulfill security service at the tracks.
Francesco lacobelli highlights the great work of deterrence offered by his business partner. We sincerely hope that the great qualities of the dog over the security services and public order problems will soon be used by our law enforcement. In some areas, the Cane Corso is more specialized than other breeds. Try to imagine its use as a dog riot in football stadiums.

We read what are the impressions of Mr. Francisco Iacobelli conductor and trainer of Fenix Cane Corso.
D. - Mr. Iacobelli what was his first approach with the Cane Corso?
A. - I was led into the world of Cane Corso from a dear friend, Paul Cuius passionate about the breed and breeder.
Thanks to him I got to know the history and morphological characteristics of this dog.
Together we attended farms and exhibitions in search of interesting subjects.
The first subjects that I trained come from his breeding; 10 years have passed and our relationship is deeper and more constructive.
Q. - You have used before Cane Corso other races;
that the differences found, and why you chose the Cane Corso?
R. - The Cane Corso is part of a plan specialization and improvement of the canine section of 'IVRI Rome.
This attempt at innovation is not born by chance but by technical comparison that was when the director and the technical director of the company called me to organize the canine unit of the Company.
I must admit that the experience gained by the two leaders at other locations of 'IVRI allowed me to be understood and supported leaving the possibility of making technical choices different from the standard normal.
It 'important to remember that in Italy all departments dog lovers have always aimed to' non-uniformity and the specialization of the subjects that will operate in the field.
How I.V.R.I. use three dog breeds, each of these has a specific use and a preparation suitable to the type of service to be performed.
In services, we use either robbery Rottweiler and Cane Corso.
In the surveillance industrial or civil prefer the Corso, as it shows a very strong territorial sense. For different goals, less demanding, we use German Shepherds.
The course has a very strong territorial sense, to which is added a remarkable aptitude for defense; physically powerful, it has a significant impact power, a 'high resistance to pain, a' good combativeness; the appearance is proud, like other mastiff does not let emotions.
The eye of some cold and impenetrable subject scares different people.
All these elements are important for optimal deterrence.
In our work are very important readiness and effectiveness of repression, but deterrence is that it allows us to take as many risks as possible.
Q. - What kind of training used with Fenix and how does the learning ability of the dog?
A. - In the preparation of a dog should be taken into consideration several factors:
First the type of service that the Canine Unit will have to play, then the ability of caries character and skills of the conductor.
The basic training of dogs is standard.
Comprises a first phase concentrated on the control of the dog, which is obtained by working on 'obedience; in a second step, the dog is stimulated to put him in a position to defend the conductor.
At a time when the two components are close and canine unit at the same level of preparation, we move to the last phase of the work, namely the robbery or specialization in Industrial or Civil Guard.
Upstream of this work is a selection of character particularly careful of the dog and the handler.
The dogs, finished basic training and specialization, are trained and monitored constantly. For units working at night in warehouses, factories and warehouses are often made of the lessons and tests on the spot and at night taking care to change the set (hypothetical aggressors).
In the case of Fenix training was initially at the base, and the dog immediately showed a propensity to good defense, perhaps more than other subjects in preparation. We must bear in mind that Fenix work during the night at the Termini station in Rome.
The same trainer as I did not know exactly what were the dangers that we faced and what were the methods of intervention, as normally work alone or in a few cases there is the presence of a guard support. A train station involves collaboration, coordination and mode of action different from any other location. At the station we often collaborate with agents of the Police and Carabinieri. The place is -frequentato by several homeless people, drug addicts and thieves. Thefts, robberies, fights, are frequent; often the departure and the arrival of fans agitated creates havoc. Taken on board the type of service, we started working on pursuing a different specialization.
Fenix has been accustomed to recognize the uniforms of the Police and Cops like family because in the case of joint intervention would be unfortunate that the dog bite those approaching for help. The training involves a robbery in the territorial sense stimulation of the dog, because the dog I must report the presence of strangers or intruders in dark areas or between railcars. I think Fenix has responded so well, so much so that after eight months of work at the Termini railway station, most of my colleagues without a dog ended up in the emergency room. I have not yet had need of care, but most of our dogs have not bitten anyone yet.
Q. - What 'is the behavior of the dog during the monitoring service?
A. - Generally wonder and advice from our tenants not to touch our dogs to passers-by or strangers.
I often do that is not to be incited the dog for no reason against defenseless people. I always remember the conductors to keep the dog on a leash as close as possible. Personally during the service I try to follow these rules; Fenix on his part perfectly performs its work and as robbery dog shows great attention to those who are close to us. As for the watch, if you notice the presence of intruders warns me immediately, and important thing that many courses have innate, barking only when there is really a need to warn of danger, giving very few false alarms.
Often we act on calls to other colleagues in difficulty because of troublemakers who often saw the arrival of the dog, go away. Overall, I think the Cane Corso has great potential in our field but the problem is in the closure
mental to some operators, the lack of will in wanting to improve the service, you do not appreciate all that is Italian and also the fear of change. Suffice it to say that in the Netherlands, Russia and Germany is used with excellent results for the Rottweiler `sevices specific type of public policy; in France and in America using the Malinois. This is an indication that the research of specalizzazioni in dogs is increasingly in demand.
In Italy we are as backward mentality. I believe that in a few years, in other countries, the course will be used for services of public order and security; it is only a matter of time as this breed is not well known beyond the Italian borders. In the meantime, I'm very happy of the performance achieved and I hope there is also an opening towards lesser-known breeds.
D. - Between Watchdog and defense dog has always been a sharp dichotomy.
The Cane Corso has the potential to excel in both. What do you think about this?
R. - I am fully convinced that the Cane Corso can compete with any other breed with regard to the defense. Surely it is excellent for security services and attitudes denotes strong guard. However, this must be taken, for what concerns the working of the watchdog, that socialization is crucial. Therefore, some individuals well prepared to guard working at the lower levels of their capabilities due to a socialization wrong. However, it is my personal opinion that only three other races are superior to the course in the guard. There are important factors in the acquisition and evaluation of a dog. Often subject to defense and guard are bought by newbies and because of the aggressiveness that they then manifest difficulty in handling them. The higher quality of the course is its ease of management. All subjects simply prepared or tested, show a total submission and a morbid affection towards the owner and an absolute determination to defend and protect his property
